Villas-Boas feels Tottenham deserved more than a point from Man Utd

Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas believes his side still did not get what they quite deserved when Clint Dempsey scored in the last minute of injury time to draw level with Manchester United on Sunday, Sky Sports has reported.

Clint Dempsey celebrates

United took a first-half lead through Robin van Persie’s header and held the advantage for the duration of the match, only for Dempsey to intervene in the 93rd minute of play at a snowy White Hart Lane.

Villas-Boas added that he felt Tottenham dominated much of the match, an assertion he claims is backed up by the statistics of the contest. The Portuguese said: “ It was important for us. We dominated the whole game - possession and shots. We controlled the game and played well. We deserved to win, to be fair.

But Manchester United made the most of their opportunity and we were chasing against them, which is very difficult. But 60 per cent possession against United and 15 shots against four - we should have gone out with a win. We deserved this last-minute goal.

The result means that Tottenham have not lost in either of their two league meetings with United this season. At Old Trafford in September Spurs took a two-goal lead before half-time through a Jonny Evans own goal and a Gareth Bale effort, adding a third after the break to eventually win the match 3-2.
