Newcastle striker Ranger hits out at unhappy fans
Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has taken to Twitter to hit back at supporters who booed the Magpies following their 2-1 defeat to fellow Premier League strugglers Reading, Sky Sports has reported.
Alan Pardew’s side had taken the lead in the first-half through a Yohan Cabaye free-kick, only for the Royals to turn the contest on its head through an Adam Le Fondre double. The result sees the gap between Newcastle and the bottom three cut to only two points, with Newcastle remaining in 16th position.
Ranger said on the social network site that nobody was forcing discontented Newcastle supporters to continue turning up to matches at St. James’ Park, calling for fans to remain loyal to the team through their current difficult spell.
He wrote: “Certain fans need to not come and support this team... Coming out to BOOO us.. Stay at home.. Don't need ur BOO's.... SAY NO MORE !!!!”
The messages received a frosty response from Newcastle supporters on Twitter, with Sky Sports suggesting that Ranger faces disciplinary action from the club for speaking out of turn.
Ranger, 21, has appeared four times for Newcastle this season and previously spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley, both last season. He has featured 62 times for Newcastle, with the vast majority coming as a substitute, and scored three goals.
