The father of Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has revealed that he expects a decision to be made over the Argentine’s future at the club on Tuesday, Sky Sports has reported. Coloccini is keen to leave the Premier League outfit to return to his native country for personal reasons.

Coloccini informed Newcastle of his wish to move back to Argentina earlier in the transfer window but having signed a long-term contract only recently, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is reluctant to let the club captain leave.

Newcastle are currently embroiled in a relegation battle, sitting only two places and two points clear of danger after losing at home to fellow strugglers Reading at the weekend, despite taking a first-half lead through Yohan Cabaye’s free-kick.

Osvaldo Coloccini revealed that a meeting had been held on Monday but ended without a conclusion. However, Osvaldo, who is involved with the youth set-up at San Lorenzo, the club Coloccini wishes to join, added that further talks will be held on Tuesday, after which he expects a decision to be made regarding his son’s future.
