Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has paved the way for David Beckham to move to the UAE, reports ESPN.

The 64-year-old has been appointed technical director at Al Nasr, and has revealed that the club would “open the gate” for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder to join him.

Speaking to reporters at his unveiling at the club on Monday, Eriksson said: “

Wherever he goes will be a huge thing for the whole country and their football league, and for that club also. He is the most famous footballer in the world and has a great deal of ability.

The 37-year-old has departed MLS outfit LA Galaxy, and is reportedly considering offers from a large array of potential suitors, thought to be in Australia, China and the English Premier League.

Despite Eriksson being happy to be linked with the player, he claimed that signing players would not be a priority at the club until the summer when the current season has ended. He continued:

That's not for now, that's for after the league is finished in June or July. Now it's late in the season and I don't really know what I need, so I can't help the club at this moment. Now it's more important to try and finish the league as high as possible in the table.
