Diame out to impress as suitors Arsenal meet West Ham

The Daily Mirror has reported that West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame could be 90 minutes away from a move to Arsenal, as the sides meet in a Premier League fixture on Wednesday.

If Diame helps the Hammers to a victory over the Gunners - or at least enters a strong individual performance - then the newspaper suggests Arsene Wenger will step up his attempt to bring the former Wigan Athletic player to the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger has spoken highly of Diame in the build-up to the match and a release clause in the Senegalese’s West Ham contract means he could be available for as little as £3.5m. West Ham have offered Diame a new and improved deal without such a clause but the Mirror claims Diame wants to move on this month.

Arsenal go into the match in sixth, four points behind fifth-place Everton and seven short of Tottenham Hotspur, who are fourth, in the final Champions League qualification place. West Ham, meanwhile, would edge into the top half if they recorded a victory at the Emirates.
