Kagawa unhappy with his Man Utd form
Shinji Kagawa has launched a scathing attack on his own form so far during his first season as a Manchester United player, the Daily Mirror has reported.
Kagawa moved to Old Trafford after two years with German giants Borussia Dortmund, a period in which the Japan international twice won the Bundesliga title. United paid £17m to bring the midfielder to the Premier League but Kagawa missed more than two months through injury and admits that he has found his new surroundings tough going.
“I’m really feeling that I need to perform better. I’m not satisfied with what I have done here at all,” Kagawa said. “It’s a big and really famous club in the world and I need to overcome lots of pressures and be mentally stronger,” the 23-year-old added.
Kagawa was also reluctant to place the blame for his perceived poor form on the knee injury that he suffered in October, noting: “Unfortunately I got injured, but I have to be better and grow as a player a person, in terms of contributing to team’s wins and succeeding here.”
Originally deployed by manager Sir Alex Ferguson in a No. 10 position, behind one or two strikers, Kagawa started his career in English football brightly, getting on the score sheet against both Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur before the end of September. The goal against Spurs though was Kagawa’s last so far, having scored 14 for Dortmund last season and 10 the season before.
