Podolski calls for Arsenal to be ruthless as they chase down Tottenham

Lukas Podolski wants to see Arsenal repeat their clinical performance against West Ham United as the Premier League season enters its final stages, with the Gunners chasing down Tottenham Hotspur and try to qualify for the Champions League, the Daily Mail has reported.

Spurs are in fourth place, the final spot that can provide Champions League football for next season, and hold a four-point lead over their North London rivals Arsenal, who are sixth. Everton separate the teams in fifth, three points behind Tottenham and one ahead of Podolski and co.

The Mail claims Podolski’s own showing against the Hammers was his best since moving to Arsenal in the summer, with the Germany international scoring once and setting up three more goals in the 5-1 win over Sam Allardyce’s side. West Ham had taken the lead but Arsenal hit back to level before half-time and took the game away from their London rivals in a flurry of second-half goals.

Podolski said: “We have three points which is important but we have 15 games more to play. It is not about saying, 'Today Arsenal are back' because we need more of these games and more of these points. Then I think we are back in the top four in the league.

There is enough time to get back in the top four, and a lot of points to play for. We must believe in our game and our players.
