Man Utd v Fulham - FA Cup match preview and team news

Saturday 26 January 2013

Premier League leaders Manchester United will be confident of continuing their recent excellent form by seeing off a free-falling Fulham in their fourth round FA Cup tie at Old Trafford on Saturday evening. Sir Alex Ferguson has voiced the need for an improved record in the competition, which his side have only one once (2004) and reached one other final (2007) in the last 10 years.

Old Trafford

With the Red Devils riding high in the league and with a Champions League date with Real Madrid on the horizon, Ferguson could look to rotate his squad and select a team akin to the one that took to the field against West Ham in the last round of the competition. Thus, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez can expect to come in for Robin Van Persie and Danny Welbeck, while Nani, Anderson and Shinji Kagawa are also pushing for starts. Ashley Young (knee) and Jonny Evans (hamstring) miss out.

Fulham seem certain to include Dimitar Berbatov in their starting line-up, bringing the Bulgarian back to Old Trafford only months after leaving for the London club. However, fellow ex-United player Kieran Richardson misses out with a calf problem. Elsewhere, Kerim Frei (pelvis) and Mahamadou Diarra (knee) remain absent while Simon Davies remains a couple of weeks away from a first-team return.
