Diame expects imminent Arsenal move

Sunday 27 January 2013

Mohamed Diame has told close friends that he is keen to complete a move to Arsenal this week, reports The Daily Mail.

Mohamed Diame

The 25-year-old had a bust up with manager Sam Allardyce earlier this week by turning up over an hour late for a club meeting, which had been called to address the 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Gunners the previous Saturday.

Diame was reportedly the only player to arrive late for the meeting, and it is believed that he hopes to push through a move to the Emirates by the time the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the player and could be set to strengthen his squad by triggering a £3.5m release clause present in the player’s contract at Upton Park.

The Daily Mail is also reporting, however, that the Gunners could face a late attempt to hijack their efforts to capture the Senegalese international from North London rivals Tottenham, who are also thought to be preparing a bid before the window closes.

Diame has only been at West Ham since the start of the season but has impressed following his arrival from Wigan. He has made 17 appearances for the Hammers, netting twice.
