Everton have agreed a deal with FC Twente to bring Dutch international Leroy Fer to Goodison Park, reports their official website, evertonfc.com.

The 23-year-old will discuss personal terms and undergo a medical on Merseyside before the deal is completed.

Bryan Swanson of Sky Sports revealed on his Twitter page that the agreed fee between the clubs is in the region of £8.5m (€10m), with Everton not needing to sell any players in order to balance the books.

The deal would see Fer, who has won two international caps with his native Netherlands, united with his international teammate John Heitinga at Goodison Park, who has 85 caps to his name thus far.

Fer made his international debut in 2010 in a friendly against Ukraine while still playing for Feyenoord, for whom he made 103 appearances, scoring 14 goals before his 2011 move to Twente.

According to a Daily Mail article in December, Fer received attention from various Premier League clubs including Tottenham and Newcastle, but the Toffees have won the race for his signature, just three days before the transfer window shuts until the summer.
