Man Utd preparing late Wanyama offer

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Reports in the press reveal that Man Utd could be preparing a late move for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Victor Wanyama

The 21-year-old is a tough, physical midfielder, and that is a trait that is thought to be high on manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s wishlist. It was reported last week that the Kenyan international was also on the radar of rivals Arsenal, but Sir Alex was spotted at Parkhead last week, and was thought to be giving the midfielder a personal look.

A deal could cost United in the region of £10m for a player who moved to the SPL in 2011 for just £900k from Antwerp-based outfit Beerschot AC.

In October 2012 Wanyama issued a statement saying that he had turned down an improved contract offer at Celtic, citing the fact that his wage demands could not be met by the club amid interest from the Premier League.

His contract presently runs through until 2015, at which time he could leave the club on a free transfer.

Wanyama has made 51 appearances for the Hoops since joining in 2011, netting ten goals.
