Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone could be on the verge of a move across London after Fulham were given permission by their Premier League rivals to speak with the England international, Sky Sports has reported.

Spurs Head Coach confirmed that the Cottagers had asked for and received the opportunity to discuss a move to Craven Cottage with Huddlestone, who has four England caps to his name, but the Portuguese added he was unsure if the move would go ahead - and that he was a fan of Huddlestone.

Villas-Boas said: “There was an interest from Fulham. I’m not sure if they’re going to follow on that interest. We’ve allowed the club to speak to the player. He’s a player we rate very highly.

If Huddlestone does swap north London for west London he will be re-united with Martin Jol, who previously coached Tottenham between 2004 and 2007 and was at the club when Huddlestone moved to White Hart Lane from Derby County in 2005.

Huddlestone has made over 150 appearances for Tottenham, winning the League Cup in 2008 and recovering from a series of injuries that saw him play only three times last season.

Tottenham signed midfielder Lewis Holtby earlier in the transfer window and while Villas-Boas did not want to categorically rule out any further signings, he admitted he did not expect new faces.

It's not impossible that a couple of things happen. It's highly unlikely. We need to add quality to the squad and our quality to the squad is keeping the players we have now and Lewis (Holtby) arriving,” Villas-Boas said.
