Mario Balotelli has spoken of his delight at finally completing his move to Milan from Premier League champions Manchester City, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Balotelli is to be unveiled as a Milan player on Thursday after the formalities of his £19.5m transfer to the San Siro have been wrapped up. Balotelli began his career with Milan’s rivals Inter, moving to City in 2010, joining up again with former Inter manager Roberto Mancini after he also made the switch to the Etihad Stadium.

After a colourful and often controversial time in England, Balotelli returned to Italy late in the transfer window and could not contain his happiness at moving to Milan, the club he grew up supporting.

Balotelli said: “I'd wanted to play for Milan for such a long time. Obviously I played for other teams and couldn't come. But when there was the chance, I ran. I didn't have a good start to the season with City and I hope to do well here at Milan.

The 22-year-old’s final six months in English football were marked more by controversy than goals, the forward scoring only three times this season but falling out with Mancini on a regular basis, to the point the pair had to be held apart during a training session when the manager felt Balotelli had made a reckless tackle on teammate Scott Sinclair.
