Fulham wrap up Emanuelson swoop

By Simon Wright

Thursday 31 January 2013

It could be an active day in the transfer market at Craven Cottage and Goal.com has reported Fulham’s first completed capture.

Urby Emanuelson

They have signed 26-year-old Dutchman Urby Emanuelson on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season.

Emanuelson worked under current Cottagers boss Martin Jol at Ajax, and has been capped 16 times by Holland.

He has been used in a rotational role at Milan this season, making 20 appearances but recently struggling to figure in the plans of Massimo Allegri.

He will add to competition on the wide flanks at Fulham, with his best position being left midfield.

However he could be used as a left back too, which is where he started his positional career in Holland with Ajax.

A statement on the Londoners website read: “Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Urby Emanuelson until the end of the 2012-13 season.”

Emanuelson joins Emmanuel Frimpong at the club in this transfer window, with Jol hoping to strengthen further later in the day.

A potential deal for Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone looks dead though, and Stoke seem set to win the race for rising goalkeeper Jack Butland.
