Spurs make late Damiao bid

Thursday 31 January 2013

Tottenham could be about to add Leandro Damiao to their striking choices, the Daily Mail understands.

Leandro Damiao

The 23-year-old was one of the leading stars in Brazil’s run to the Olympic final in London, and was a Spurs target in the summer too.

It is understood that a bid of £18m has been made with Damiao’s current club Internacional, where he has a strike rate of one goal per every three games.

Boss Andre Villas-Boas has limited striking options at present. Emmanuel Adebayor is still at the African Cup of Nations after Togo qualified for the last eight on Wednesday, while Jermain Defoe is carrying a nagging pelvic injury, and Harry Kane is on loan at Norwich and can’t be recalled.

An ambitious loan bid for Lisandro Lopez of Lyon fell through earlier today, although if a deal can’t be agreed for Damiao, they might see if Lyon will accept a permanent deal for the Argentine ace.

Tottenham’s next Premier League gamp is a trip to West Brom on Sunday afternoon.
