Chelsea frustration laid bare in Buck email

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has revealed that he and owner Roman Abramovich are “frustrated” with the way the season has gone for the Premier League side, the Daily Mail has reported.

Buck was responding to an email from a disgruntled supporter who criticised the appointment of Rafael Benitez as the club’s interim manager in November, claiming the ex-Liverpool boss was a “divisive figure” at the club and questioning his suitability for top level management after spending a long time out of the game following a brief spell at Inter.

Declining to reply to the specific points raised, Buck did concede that recent results had not been good enough and that the board and Abramovich were looking at ways to turn the momentum of the club around.

Chelsea were recently knocked out of the Capital One Cup at the semi-final stage by Swansea City, held to a draw by Brentford in the FA Cup and gave up a two-goal lead against Reading in the Premier League despite being ahead as the game entered injury time.

Buck wrote: “You will appreciate that I cannot respond to the specific points you raise but the Board and Roman are as frustrated as you are with some of the recent results. We are all working as hard as we can to change things around.

I hope you will continue your support of the club as the boys really need your backing now.

Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League table, six points adrift of Manchester City, who are second, and 13 behind leaders Manchester United.
