Liverpool and West Ham already have Carroll agreement

Liverpool and West Ham have already reached an agreement over the permanent transfer of Andy Carroll from the Reds to the Hammers, Sky Sports has reported.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan told the Daily Mail that they still need to reach an agreement with Carroll, however. The England striker moved on loan to Upton Park in the summer after it became clear he would not be part of new manager Brendan Rodgers’ set-up at Anfield.

Sullivan said: “I am often asked about Andy Carroll's deal. It is a season-long loan. Liverpool had an option to take him back in January, but he has been injured. West Ham have an agreement with Liverpool to sign him at the end of the season, but we have no agreement with the player.

It was his desire to come to West Ham to prove himself to Liverpool and that hasn't changed. He has had injuries since he came, but he is back to fitness now and we have 15 games left...we need some goals and some points, so let's see.

Carroll made two appearances for Liverpool under Rodgers at the start of the season, coming on as a substitute against both West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City before making his West Ham debut in the first match after the close of the transfer window, a 3-0 win over Fulham in which Carroll played almost 70 minutes.

The former Newcastle forward picked up an injury against the Cottagers, however, and missed a month’s football, with a second injury in late November keeping the 24-year-old out of action until the New Year.

Carroll has only scored once for West Ham this season, netting the consolation in a 3-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on November 25, having made 11 appearances for Sam Allardyce’s team thus far.
