Peter Odemwingie will call in the PFA if West Bromwich Albion try to punish him over his aborted move to Queens Park Rangers, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Peter Odemwingie

Odemwingie has been adamant that he had permission from the Baggies to travel to London to speak with the Loftus Road club ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, only for the Midlands outfit to deny giving the striker the go-ahead and insist no deal with QPR was ever struck.

First Team Coach Steve Clarke said on Friday that Odemwingie faces in-house punishment after driving from the Midlands to west London in an attempt to meet with the R’s, with Odemwingie captured on camera near QPR’s ground. He gave an impromptu to interview to the assembled media but was denied entry to the QPR cap park after West Brom insisted he was not supposed to be there.

Clarke said: “The first I knew of it is when he appeared on television. It was total lunacy because he didn’t have permission to be at QPR. That’s why QPR turned him away. There will be a disciplinary process in place. A number of things have happened this week. As always as a club it will be done privately but it will be dealt with.

The Mirror speculates that if Odemwingie is fined two weeks’ wages for his actions he will stand to lose £70,000. Odemwingie though claims to have had the okay from Baggies technical director Dan Ashworth and accused West Brom of reneging on the deal.
