Cazorla compares Arsenal style to Spain

Santi Cazorla has compared the style of football employed by Arsenal to that used by teams across Spain, pinpointing it as a reason why he has settled quickly into life in the Premier League, according to ESPN.

Cazorla moved to the Gunners from Malaga in the summer and has made 33 appearances thus far, scoring eight goals. A Spain international, the 28-year-old believes the technical nature of Arsenal’s play is similar to that of many teams in his homeland, something that has made him more comfortable with playing in English football.

For me it is important to go out onto the pitch and be comfortable, and that has been the case since the first game. I have always been at ease on the pitch,” Cazorla said.

He added: “In my case too, you do not notice much difference between Arsenal and playing in Spain, because we are also a side who like to play with the ball.

The boss has a philosophy of playing football, it is always trying to find attacking football, of having the ball and because of the characteristics of the players we have, it is what comes easiest to us.

Cazorla spent only one season with Malaga, having moved to the south coast club from Villarreal in 2011. He played more than 200 times for the Yellow Submarine and has 51 international caps to his name. Cazorla was part of the Spain squads that won the European Championships in both 2008 and 2012.
