Rooney wants to see return of ruthless Man Utd
England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is struggling to find reasons why the Premier League leaders have not been their usual ruthless selves.
He told Sky Sports: “I can't put my finger on why we are not killing teams off. We have scored plenty of goals. It is the most number we have scored at this stage of the season.”
He continued: “We have conceded too many and have done throughout the season. But that is the way we have been set up to play. We have to just keep our scoring going.”
United have conceded 31 goals after 25 Premier League games so far this term, more than any other team in the top six. United conceded a total of thirty-three goals in their entire league campaign last season. But Rooney insists he is less worried about the goals against column, saying: “Results are the most important thing now.”
Manchester United face Everton at Old Trafford this weekend. Last season in the same fixture the home side lead 3-1 and 4-2 before ultimately drawing the game 4-4, a result that many saw as the game in which Manchester United conceded the momentum to Manchester City in the chase for their 20th league title.
Rooney hopes that United’s neighbours will be the team to drop points and turn potential victories into draws as they head towards the business end of the season.

“It proves we have to keep picking up the points when we can. Once it comes down to the last four or five games, then we will see what position we are in and work out what we have to do.”
Those last four or five games include a trip to Arsenal and a home fixture against Chelsea, both fixtures coming shortly after the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on the April 6.
