Swansea v QPR - Match preview and team news
Saturday 09 February 2013
Bottom-club QPR head to South Wales looking to avenge their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Michael Laudrup’s men on the opening day of the season at Loftus Road, a defeat that appears to have hampered the Rs entire season. Harry Redknapp may have since replaced Mark Hughes as manager but the London-based side still lie bottom of the table, six points off 17th-placed Reading and safety with now only 13 matches remaining.
Swansea’s Premier League form has just dipped of late with their Capital One Cup final date with Bradford on the horizon, with only one league win (at home to Stoke) in the whole of 2013 to date. However, Laudrup’s side remain well-placed in eighth and with victory will rise above Liverpool into seventh with the Merseysiders only taking the field on Monday night at home to West Brom.
First-choice goalkeeper Michel Vorm could return for the Swans after struggling with a knee injury, the same affliction hampering Leon Britton’s selection. Kemy Agustien is still not fit yet with an ankle injury while Danny Graham’s sale means Michu looks set to continue in the lone striker’s position having not scored a Premier League goal so far this year.
The Rs could have Loic Remy available for selection just days after the Frenchman looked set to be ruled out for three weeks with a groin strain. Elsewhere, Nedum Onuoha misses out with a back injury while Junior Hoilett continues to be plagued by a troublesome hamstring injury. Malian midfielder Samba Diakite remains at the Africa Cup of Nations.
