Klopp rules out Chelsea move

Chelsea have been dealt a major blow in their bid to name a new permanent manager after Jurgen Klopp announced he would not join the club in the summer in an exclusive interview with the London Evening Standard.

Jurgen Klopp

The German manager is one of the most highly thought of managers in European football, having transformed Borussia Dortmund into one of the continent's most exciting teams.

It is thought that Blues owner Roman Abramovich was considering a move for the 45-year-old boss in the summer, having been rebuffed in his pursuit of Pep Guardiola.

But Klopp, who guided Dortmund to a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double last season, is set to become the latest high-profile name to snub the Russian's advances.

Klopp said: "I have a contract until 2016. I have said 20 times I’ll definitely stay until 2016. Everybody thinks I say it but that if a club like Chelsea or Real Madrid come in for me, I will go. This is something I can’t change but they will see."

Chelsea's interim manager Rafa Benitez, under contract until the end of the season, is currently trying to change the Blues' fortunes, having won just two of his last seven matches in charge.
