Arsene Wenger has taken young Brazilian midfielder Indio on trial at Arsenal, according to the London Evening Standard.

The highly-rated 16-year-old will spend a few days training at the north London club as coaches and scouting staff run the rule over the Vasco Da Gama player.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, Indio said:"I'm anxious for this new stage in my life. I'll spend a week at Arsenal. It will be cool, I hope I enjoy it. Of course I have the dream of playing for a European club, but everything has its right time."

If manager Arsene Wenger does decide to formalise his interest in the hot prospect, no deal can go through before the player's 18th birthday, which is over a year away. But, with Indio's heart set on a move to Europe, the Gunners are keen to monitor the youngster.

Indio, who considers himself to be a keen admirer of Arsenal winger Theo Walcott, is not the first Brazilian to catch the eye of Wenger, with internationals such as Gilberto Silva, Denilson and Edu all making over 100 appearances for the Gunners.
