Szczesny still searching for best Arsenal form

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has admitted he is still not back to his best after Gunners manager Arsene Wenger said the Poland international was suffering from a lack of confidence, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Szczesny was pleased with his performance in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday but feels he still has a long way to go before he can claim to be performing at his maximum capability.

The blank at the Stadium of Light was Szczesny’s second successive clean sheet, having also prevented Stoke City from breaking through in the prior Premier League fixture.

But despite keeping out the likes of Steven Fletcher, Danny Graham and Stephane Sessegnon, Szczesny insists there was room for improvement in his individual display - even though he was pleased to have helped the team pick up three points.

Szczesny said: “I made a couple of saves that helped the team win the game and I’m happy for that but there is a lot of work still to be done. I still struggled a little bit on crosses so I would have been happier with a faultless performance.
