LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane has revealed he would be excited to see Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard move to the club once his contract with the Premier League side expires at the end of the season, Sky Sports has reported.

Frank Lampard

Lampard has not yet been offered an extension to his Chelsea contract and, with his current deal due to expire in the summer, has been the subject of intense speculation around his next move if he does leave Stamford Bridge.

Galaxy, meanwhile, are said to be searching for a big-name signing to replace David Beckham, who left Los Angeles in December when his contract with the club came to an end. Beckham recently signed a deal with French club Paris Saint-Germain, where he will play until the end of the current season.

Keane said: “I am sure they have someone in the pipeline. I think it is important for the team to get big-name players in and if we get Frank it will be good - he's been on fire.

Lampard has scored 10 goals in his last 15 games for club and country, Sky Sports add, with the England international netting at the weekend in Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Wigan Athletic and scoring the winning goal as the Three Lions beat Brazil in friendly at Wembley earlier in February.

The 34-year-old is approaching the all-time scoring record at Chelsea, currently held by Bobby Tambling, and is also closing in on his 100th England cap. However, manager Roy Hodgson advised Lampard to remain in European football if he wanted to continue being part of the national team set-up should he leave Chelsea.
