Tottenham eye summer Benteke move
Saturday 16 February 2013
Aston Villa's in-form striker Christian Benteke is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Sun.
The Belgian striker has scored 15 goals for a struggling Villa side so far this season and his goalscoring exploits have alerted bigger clubs in the Premier League.
It now seems that Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has joined Benteke's ever-increasing list of admirers - which reportedly also includes Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Kismet Eris, the former Genk striker's agent, said: "It is normal that if you go to a club and do well, other clubs will show an interest. Christian has shown he can play in England so why not take the step up to the next level? Right now his focus is on helping Aston Villa stay in the Premier League.”
Villa currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, one point above the relegation zone which is currently occupied by Reading, Wigan and Queens Park Rangers.
Villas-Boas' Spurs, who currently have only one match-fit striker in their squad in Emmanuel Adebayor, are in fourth position.
