Stokes determined for Celtic to claim SPL title

Celtic striker Anthony Stokes says the Hoops will not let up in their push for yet another Scottish League title, according to the The Daily Star.

Stokes scored two goals in Celtic's 6-2 thumping of Dundee United, which has opened up a massive 18 point gap at the top of the table. And despite this season's title pretty much guaranteed, Stokes insists that Celtic will not start taking it easy. "We won't be taking our foot off the pedal. It's nice to wrap it up early but even if we do, we will be expected to win every game anyway."

Stokes has only appeared in 5 Premier League games this season, scoring 3. And whilst it would be fair for Celtic to have their eyes more firmly on their European Cup tie with Juventus, where they trail 3-0 after the first leg, he insists his team are still focused on their domestic duties at all times. "We demand it from ourselves to perform in each game and nothing will change our approach." Celtic were expected to cruise to this season's title, with Rangers having been relegated to Scotland's 3rd tier, and they have proven so, requiring just 7 more wins from their remaining 13 fixtures to secure the title once again.

First up for Celtic is a clash with St Johnstone on Tuesday night, followed by games against Dundee once again, and Motherwell, when the title might be effectively sealed.
