Man City make move for Brazil sensation Neymar
Manchester City have stepped up their interest in signing Brazil international Neymar, the Daily Mail has reported.
Two of City’s highest-ranking executives, Ferran Soriano and Txiki Bergiristain are said by the newspaper to have made an approach for the forward when Brazil played England at Wembley earlier this month.
Neymar’s family and representatives were present to see the 21-year-old take to the field against Roy Hodgson’s side, with the City pair visiting the private box of Neymar’s agents. Neymar’s value is put by the Mail at £55m.
The player is not expected to leave current club Santos until after the 2014 World Cup, to be held in Brazil, with a host of major European names lining up to fight it out for Neymar’s signature.
Barcelona are understood to be favourites to sign Neymar but Soriano and Bergiristain, two former Barcelona executives, are attempting to maneuverer City in to pole position instead. City would be able to dwarf the financial package offered by the Spanish side, the Mail adds.
