Liverpool target Eriksen would thrive in Premier League, says Jensen

A Different League has learned that Christian Eriksen has been backed to succeed in the Premier League by former Fulham and Denmark midfielder Claus Jensen, who feels the in-demand Ajax playmaker would fit in well in English football and especially at Liverpool, a club mentioned as a possible destination for the 21-year-old.

Jensen, who also played for Bolton and Charlton, rejected the suggestion that Eriksen could not cope with the rough and tumble of the English top flight. “When you look around at the league, there are lots of small, technically gifted players doing well,” he told Danish-language website langebolde.dk.

The English league is fast-paced and of course very physical, but I think that the idea of small, technically gifted players not fitting the English style is a myth these days. They don't all play a long ball game.

Now a commentator on Danish television, Jensen spent almost a decade in English football, joining Bolton from Lyngby in 1998, playing four years at Charlton between 2000 and 2004 and leaving Fulham in 2007, retiring shortly after due to injuries.

Jensen added: “It would be interesting to see Eriksen in English football where there are plenty of clubs where his type would fit in well. Reports are suggesting he wants to leave Ajax and with his talent and understanding of the game, he'd fit in at practically every big club in European football.

He continued: “I've only read about the Liverpool link in the media, but I could easily see Liverpool as a good club for [Eriksen]. They're an exciting team in the middle of a building process, and they play the kind of football Christian Eriksen wants to play.
