BBC Sport have reported on the events that are set to take place at West Ham United as they mark the 20th anniversary of the passing of Bobby Moore, England’s 1966 World Cup winning captain.

A wreath-laying ceremony will take place outside Upton Park on Sunday, involving supporters and current club staff. The Hammers have invited Moore’s former West Ham teammates Sir Trevor Brooking, Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters to Monday’s night’s London derby with Tottenham.

A minute’s applause will be held before kick-off, and supporters in the Bobby Moore stand at the Boleyn Ground will display a mosaic of his famous No. 6 shirt, which was retired by the club after his death.

Former England colleague and fellow World Cup winner Sir Bobby Charlton said: “Bobby is not with us anymore but he left us with lots of memories. He was a true great, a clever person and an absolute pleasure to play with.

Moore was capped 108 times by England and made 544 appearances for his beloved West Ham, before joining Fulham in March 1974. After an unsuccessful brief management career, he became a regular commentator on radio. He succumbed to bowel cancer on February 24 1993, aged 51.
