The Daily Mirror has reported that Bacary Sagna will be the next high-profile player to leave Arsenal as Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and sides in the Middle East prepare to bid for the France international. In response, manager Arsene Wenger will attempt to sign Netherlands international full-back Daryl Janmaat.

Janmaat is 23 and has three caps for his country, having joined Heerenveen last summer. Sagna, meanwhile, is 30 and has around 18 months left on his current contract, but has suffered heavily with injuries in recent years, including suffering two broken legs in a short time frame.

Sagna is struggling to be fit to play Aston Villa on Saturday, after picking up an injury in the mid-week Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. If Sagna cannot play then Carl Jenkinson will be the probably deputy.

Wenger put injuries as the likely reason why Sagna has suffered a dip in form of late - with Sagna himself admitting his performances have not been up to scratch. Wenger said: “If he has not been playing as he would expect, it is down to his injury.

It takes time to come back, and he has played through a lot of pain - in fact, he is one of the strongest players I have met when it comes to doing that.

Sagna has been at Arsenal since 2007, moving to the Gunners from Auxerre. He has played more than 200 times for the club, scoring four goals.
