Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes Manchester United have rode their luck in opening a hefty gap at the top of the Premier League, according to ESPN.co.uk.

The Italian's side now sit 15 points behind their city rivals at the summit after United's comfortable 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

But under-fire Mancini insists that Sir Alex Ferguson's men have enjoyed their share of good fortune in forming their lead - luck which could be about to run out.

Mancini said: "Until now United were lucky with everything. They won a lot of games in the last minutes. If United go forward in the Champions League the last two months will be hard for them. They could lose five points in two games before the derby."

The second Manchester derby of the season takes place in April but City face Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday knowing that they can barely afford to drop any more points if they are to keep their chances of retaining their title alive.
