Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has backed misfiring striker Fernando Torres to come good again, says ESPN.co.uk.

Fernando Torres

The 28-year-old Spanish frontman is yet to find the dazzling form he demonstrated during his time at Premier League rivals Liverpool, having found the net just 14 times in 72 league matches for the Blues.

Having failed to score against Sparta Prague in midweek, Torres is now without a goal in five games, but Cech believes that it's only a matter of time before his team mate rediscovers his goalscoring exploits.

Cech said: "During the 90 minutes against Prague we had so many chances, it was unbelievable we couldn't find the back of the net. But the worrying thing would be if he [Torres] never had a chance."

"If you want the strikers to have a chance to score, he has to create for himself or find himself in a situation to get a chance. He is getting there...His timing and position in the box was good in the first half but unfortunately he didn't put the ball in the back of the net. This is unlucky, but as long as he gets into the box, the goal will arrive."

Torres has not scored in the Premier League since 23rd December in Chelsea's 8-0 win over Aston Villa.
