Under pressure Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes has once again come out in support of the club and insists he is going nowhere.

He also said in a story reported by Sky Sports that he expects Harry Redknapp to continue on at Loftus Road whatever happens to the club in the short-term.

Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to runaway Premier League leaders Manchester United leaves the west Londoners seven points adrift of 17th placed Wigan Athletic.

Rangers have only won four games all season in all competitions, and their only wins in the Premier League have come against local neighbours Fulham and Chelsea.

Fernandes, who owns the Air Asia airline and used to run the Caterham Formula One operation, is still optimistic that the club will keep their top flight status, come May.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “I am optimistic as ever. I’m still smiling. It’s the next eight games, lots of good things. Good chat with Harry on the future come what may. We know what we have to do, [there are] many points to play for.

The Hoops now have a set of matches coming up against teams in the bottom half of the table. They visit Southampton next weekend, host Sunderland and Wigan, and face trips to Aston Villa and Fulham in their next five games.
