Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez could be sacked from his role after launching an extraordinary broadside aimed at Blues owner Roman Abramovich, says the Daily Star.

Speaking after Chelsea's 2-0 win at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Wednesday, Benitez criticised the club for labelling him as 'interim manager', claiming it undermines his position.

He also condemned the section of Blues support who have continued to voice their disapproval at the Spaniard's appointment.

Abramovich is now likely to dispose of the former Liverpool boss' services - despite Benitez admitting that he will quit as manager at the end of the season anyway.

Benitez said: "There are a group of fans, they do no favours to the team, singing and wasting time preparing banners because somebody made a mistake and made my title interim manager."

"I will leave at the end of the season so they should not waste time on me but concentrate on the team. They are doing no favours to the club, to the rest of the fans and to the players."

"It will be much better for everyone to have a good atmosphere and back the players."
