Man Utd v Norwich - Match preview and team news

Saturday 02 March 2013

Manchester United could make wholesale changes for the visit of Norwich City to Old Trafford, particularly with the return leg of their tied Champions League clash with Real Madrid only three days away.

Old Trafford

The Red Devils remain a daunting 12 points clear ahead of rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and that plus the options available to Sir Alex Ferguson should result in a much-changed starting XI to the one we would usually expect to see starting at Old Trafford.

Robin Van Persie is available to start after recovering from a freakish hip injury sustained after colliding with a camera man at QPR last week, though it remains to be seen whether he will start with the visit of Jose Mourinho and Madrid on the horizon. Phil Jones and Paul Scholes are also still missing, with the likes of Alexander Buttner, Anderson, Nani, Antonio Valencia and Javier Hernandez all in line for starts.

Since collapsing to a 5-0 defeat at Liverpool in mid-January, Chris Hughton’s Norwich side have kicked on to go on a four-match unbeaten run, the high point of which came in their late comeback to see off Champions League chasing Everton at Carrow Road last week. That victory moved the Canaries to 32 points and given the number of teams below them, all but secured their Premier League status for a third consecutive season.

Hughton continues to be without midfielder Alexander Tettey and first-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy, who have knee and thigh problems respectively. Elsewhere, a full debut may be handed to Kei Kamara, after the man from Sierra Leone came off the bench to head in Norwich’s equaliser against Everton last week.
