Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is confident his side can pick up the points they need in order to stay in the Barclays Premier League, but will not be drawn into fixing a target for his young side.

Villa face reigning Champions Manchester City at home tonight looking to gain a point that would take them out of the relegation zone. Despite a record of just one win in the last 10 league matches, they go into tonight's game on the back of a 2-1 victory in their last home match, against West Ham, and Lambert is sure they can achieve the points they need to stay up:

"We don’t have a points target as such because you can never be sure how well a team is going to do. As I said, there are a lot of points to be played for over the next 11 games, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

"With the way the lads are playing at the moment I can see us picking up some really good wins. In respect of a points target I’m really not sure what is going to be enough to keep any of the teams up."

Tonight should see the return of defender Ron Vlaar to the Aston Villa defence, after the centre-back missed last week's defeat to Arsenal with a calf injury.
