Redknapp backs Bale for Tottenham stay

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes that Gareth Bale will not look to seal a big money move away from White Hart Lane this summer, ESPN reports.

Gareth Bale

The 23 year old has been in sparkling form so far this season and scored the first of Spurs’ three as they destroyed Inter in North London on Thursday night. Bale’s rise really began when Redknapp took over at Spurs in October 2008 and now Real Madrid and Barcelona are potential suitors in reported £50m bids for the Welshman. Tottenham are strong contenders for a Champions League spot this season, which should be enough to keep Bale at the club.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would surely strengthen around the current crop of players he has to keep Bale in a Tottenham shirt and Redknapp thinks that his former player will stay loyal and lead Tottenham to further glory. Bale has scored 11 goals in his last nine games and will be looking for six in six in the Premier League on Sunday away at Liverpool.

“I’m absolutely sure Spurs is the best club for him and that he will stay. He loves life at Spurs and with the club looking at another Champions League campaign next term, why would he leave? I don’t think that will happen. The boy is a dream to manage and he has been fantastic this season. He’s almost unplayable when he’s on his game”, The QPR boss said.
