Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards could replace Bacary Sagna at Arsenal, reports The Daily Mail.

The Citizens appear set to conduct a clearout of fringe players this summer, and Richards has found first team opportunities limited since injuring his knee in October.

Roberto Mancini has spoken with chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain about potential new signings in the summer, and they have also identified the players they would like to offload.

As well as Richards, the likes of Maicon, Wayne Bridge, Scott Sinclair and Roque Santa Cruz have all been earmarked as probable departures.

Arsenal expect Sagna to move back to his native France in the summer, and it is believed that Richards is considered an ideal replacement at the Emirates.

With the 24-year-old keen to do everything he can so as not to jeopardise his potential inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for next year’s World Cup, a move to North London could provide the defender with the first team football he has lacked this season at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Richards was a youth player at Arsenal before joining Manchester City in 2005. He has made 173 appearances for the Premier League champions, scoring 7 goals in the process.
