Carrick is Premier League's most undervalued player, says Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand believes that his Manchester United teammate Michael Carrick is vastly underrated, according to Sky Sports.
The central midfielder has only 26 caps for England and Ferdinand believes that he fails to attract the same type of attention as some of United's more dynamic players.
But the 31-year-old is certainly appreciated by Ferdinand, who rates him as "the most under-valued player in the [Premier League]" - referring to Carrick's assist for Javier Hernandez's goal in the FA Cup draw against Chelsea on Sunday as a case in point.
Ferdinand said: "No-one else could play a pass like he did for Javier's goal. It has to be the ball of the season. But I am sure no-one will talk about it."
"It will be swept under the carpet and all the talk will be about other players who maybe do a little bit more explosive things than Michael does."
"He is laid back and plays at his own pace, so he always goes un-noticed. But he is valued highly by each member of our squad, don't worry about that."
Carrick has made 26 starts for United in the Premier League this season, helping them to build an imposing 12-point-lead at the summit.
