Koeman knows nothing about Man City link

Feyenoord manager Ronald Koeman has played down reports linking him with the top job at Manchester City, says Sky Sports.

Ronald Koeman

The former Dutch international led the Rotterdam-based club to second place in the Eredivisie last year - an impressive finish which saw him handed a new deal at De Kuip.

But the continued good form of Koeman's men, who currently sit third in this campaign, has allegedly caught the eye of the Premier League champions amidst continuing speculation over the future of current boss Roberto Mancini.

Koeman said: "Players who develop into internationals are in the spotlight, and it is logical that people look at trainers also. But I have nothing else to say, because I simply do not know about [City's] reported interest."

The link is strengthened by the presence of Txiki Begiristain as City's sporting director, with the Spaniard having played alongside Koeman at Barcelona in a six-year period in the early 1990s.

Manchester City made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup at the weekend but were knocked out in the early stages of the Champions League and sit way behind Manchester United in the Premier League, sparking rumours about whether manager Mancini will be at the Etihad Stadium next season.
