Torres turns down Anzhi exit from Chelsea nightmare
Fernando Torres has rejected the offer of a move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala but is considering his options after an unhappy time at Chelsea, the Daily Mail has reported.
Torres moved to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool in a £50m 2011 move, but has struggled to find his feet in west London, scoring 27 goals in 115 games and enduring lengthy spells where goals have been hard to come by - his last Premier League goal came in December’s 8-0 win over Aston Villa.
In that time he has netted against League One outfit Brentford and Championship side Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, with the goal against ‘Boro more than a little fortunate as Ramires’ effort struck Torres and wrong-footed the goalkeeper. He has 15 goals to his name this season, having scored 11 last year and only one for Chelsea the year before.
Torres is understood to be waiting to see what happens at Chelsea between now and the summer but it is thought that if he does seek a move away from the club, he would prefer a switch to Italy or a return to his native Spain.
