Jack Rodwell expects to return to full training by the end of March, giving a boost to Manchester City's hopes of silverware, according to Sky Sports.

The central midfielder picked up yet another injury, this time to his hamstring, earlier in the month in City's victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

But the England international believes he will be back in action in the next few weeks, in time for Roberto Mancini's side's FA Cup semi-final date against either Manchester United or Chelsea.

Rodwell said: "Obviously you don't want to tempt fate but I'm not looking at this a lengthy absence and I hope to be back in a couple of weeks.

"Hopefully I can play my part in the run-in and help us win some silverware and end what has been a frustrating season on a high."

Ex-Everton man Rodwell has endured an injury-plagued first season at the Etihad Stadium and has made just four Premier League starts for the champions.

And the 22-year-old will have to watch from the stands as his teammates travel to Goodison Park to take on his former employers on Saturday, as City search for three points in an attempt to close the gap on Premier League leaders United.
