PSG line up Man Utd striker Rooney to replace Ibrahimovic

Paris Saint-Germain could launch a £35m bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney if current PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic seeks a move away from Ligue 1, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Ibrahimovic is said to be unhappy with life in France and considering a move away from the club this summer, to what would be the eighth employers of his career. Starting out as a professional at Malmo, Ibrahimovic has also played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona and Milan before moving to PSG last summer.

The Sweden captain has already claimed that PSG will not be his final club, the Mirror adds, and the newspaper speculates that Pep Guardiola could try to take Ibrahimovic to Bayern Munich next season having previously signed him for Barcelona - despite the relationship between the pair breaking down during their time together in Catalonia.

Rooney’s future came into question when he was dropped by Sir Alex Ferguson for the Champions League second leg tie with Real Madrid earlier in March, but the manager has insisted Rooney is not leaving Old Trafford. However, Qatari-owned PSG have the financial strength to tempt United with a bid for the 27-year-old if Ibrahimovic does move on.
