Rafael Benitez believes Chelsea can cope with a packed schedule that could see them play six games in 15 days - and joked that someone will find a way to blame him for the congestion, according to Sky Sports.

Should Chelsea beat Steaua Bucharest in the second leg of their last 16 Europa League tie on Thursday, and progress to the next round, the Blues will play six games in little more than two weeks, starting with the trip to Southampton on Easter Saturday.

Benitez said: “I can do nothing about that. I just concentrate on my job and try to do my best, preparing the team for every competition. Maybe someone else will blame me. Some people always say that it's my fault, that everything is my fault!

The former Liverpool manager added: “ It's quite difficult, but each team is different and it depends on the players that you have, the positions and the congestion. I will try to lead by example, so I will concentrate on the next game. That is what I have to do, to make sure we compete in every single competition. The first one is on Thursday.

Chelsea trail Steaua by a single goal after losing the first meeting between the sides in Romania and face an FA Cup quarter-final replay with Manchester United after drawing 2-2 in the first match. Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League, five points ahead of Arsenal and two adrift of Tottenham Hotspur.
