Stoke City have decided to release Jermaine Pennant, after two seasons at the Britannia Stadium.

Jermaine Pennant

The Daily Telegraph reports the former Notts County academy player and Arsenal youngster will be heading for pastures new again in the summer. He will be looking for the 11th club in his much-travelled career.

The 30-year-old was due another 12 months on his current deal if he had made a certain amount of appearances by the end of January, but the clause expired to end his stay with the Premier League outfit.

He has barely featured for Tony Pulis’s side this term, with his last Stoke game coming in a Capital One Cup home defeat to Swindon in late August.

He had an unsuccessful loan period at Wolves in the autumn, and is likely to spend the rest of the campaign at another Championship club.

Danny Higginbotham, Diego Arismendi and Michael Tonge have already had their contracts terminated, whilst Dean Whitehead, Michael Owen and Rory Delap all look set to leave in the summer.
