Manchester City will be without Sergio Aguero for their Premier League encounter with Everton on Saturday, the Daily Mail has reported.

Sergio Aguero

Aguero had missed City’s last two games with a knee injury but it was thought the Argentine striker would recover in time to feature at Goodison Park. Aguero has been allowed to return to South America to be treated by the medical staff of the Argentina national team having been called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia, and will miss the Everton fixture.

City could also face the Toffees without captain Vincent Kompany, who the Mail claims is rated only 50-50 to return following almost two months on the sidelines with a succession of calf injuries. Kompany last played in late January against Stoke City in the FA Cup.

Roberto Mancini’s defending league champions are currently 12 points behind Manchester United at the top of the table, with Everton in seventh, level on points with local rivals Liverpool who went above David Moyes’ side last week on goal difference, having played a game more.
