Evans calls for Man Utd focus in Premier League title run-in

Jonny Evans has told his Manchester United teammates to focus and not let complacency become an issue as they bid to see off Manchester City and clinch the Premier League title, the Daily Mail has reported.

United currently have a 12-point lead over defending champions City with the Old Trafford Manchester derby to come, having lost out to City in last season’s title race on goal difference. The final day of the season saw United beat Sunderland and City beat Queens Park Rangers with almost the last kick of the season to send the title to the Etihad Stadium, with United having held a points advantage late in the season then too.

In recent weeks United have been knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid and given up a two-goal lead at home to Chelsea in the FA Cup, drawing the match 2-2, and Evans wants to ensure that there are no such slip-ups and turnarounds in the league.

We all saw what happened last year,” Evans said. “It’s up to us to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We keep saying it but hopefully we’ve learned from that experience.

We’re in a great position in the league but we don’t want to give City any sniff of getting back in. We didn’t imagine being 12 points clear at this stage. It sounds like a lot but it’s only a difference of four games,” Evans added.
