Aston Villa vs QPR - Match preview and team news

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 16 March 2013

Queens Park Rangers look to move within touching distance of escaping the bottom three for the first time this season with victory at fellow strugglers Aston Villa.

Villa Park

Villa have won just one of their last seven league matches at home, but a vital away win at Reading last weekend could be pivotal in their survival hopes.

Manager Paul Lambert has no fresh injury concerns, but midfielder Karim El Ahmadi is a doubt with an ankle problem. Fabian Delph completes his two-match ban and Darren Bent is still unavailable.

Harry Redknapp has galvanised Rangers, earning 23 points since he took over from Mark Hughes in November. QPR remain bottom, but a win in the Midlands would move them to within one point of their 17th placed opposition on Saturday.

The R’s are boosted by the return of Julio Cesar and Adel Taarabt, while left-back Armand Troare will be assessed on a calf strain. Bobby Zamora could also return, despite hip and ankle knocks.
