Man Utd vs Reading - Match preview and team news

Saturday 16 March 2013

League leaders Manchester United will look to maintain their strong position at the top of the table with victory over manager less Reading at Old Trafford.

Old Trafford

United are 12 points clear at the top, ahead of reigning champions Manchester City, and have looked formidable in the Premier League. There will be concerns about how easily they surrendered a two goal lead in the FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea, who took the game to a replay with a 2-2 draw.

Nemanja Vidic and Robin Van Persie could return to the starting line-up, with the United striker six league and cup appearances without a goal. Nani is out with a hamstring issue, while Phil Jones and Paul Scholes are still unavailable.

Reading sacked manager Brian McDermott earlier this week after a run of five consecutive league and cup defeats. Back-to-back home losses against Wigan and Aston Villa have forced owner Anton Zigarevich’s hand, which is a huge gamble so late in the season.

Caretaker boss Eamonn Dolan is without goalkeeper Adam Federici and midfielder Jimmy Kebe, who are both injured. Pavel Pogrebnyak completes his three-game ban, whilst Jason Roberts could miss the rest of the season with a hip injury.
